    Awards flow for local atheltes, coaches

    Former Cy Creek 300-meter hurdler Chava Demart was named to the University Interscholastic League’s All-Century Girls Track and Field team.

    The team was selected by the fans, who cast more than 3,500 votes for their favorite girls track and field athletes in Texas high school history.

    Demart won the state 300 hurdles in 1997 with a time of 41.73, and 1998 with a clocking of 41.01.

    Jennett signs with Panhandle State

    Jersey Village High School volleyball standout Katie Jennett has signed a scholarship to play for Panhandle State University in Oklahoma.

    Cy Woods’ Franks, Cy Creek’s Virgil share 15-5A softball honor

    Cy Woods’ Katie Franks and Cy Creek’s Brandi Virgil were named co-MVP’s by the District 15-5A softball coaches.

    Cy Woods coach Clif Bond, who guided his team to an undefeated district season, was named the league’s Coach of the Year; Cy Ranch’s Lauren Montgomery was Newcomer of the Year; Cy-Fair’s Jordan Rains was Designated Player of the Year; and Cy Falls’ Samantha Habelow was Utility Player of the Year.
