For Cat Osterman, the hits just keep on coming.

The 26-year-old Osterman, who pitched the United States to an Olympic gold medal, recently was one of 33 players named to the University Interscholastic League’s All-Century softball team.

Osterman, who was a first-team all-state player at Cy Springs, was one of two pitchers named to the first team. The other was Frisco’s Jill Weynand.
The other players named to the first team included catcher Morgan Anderson (Brazoswood), first baseman Karlie Harrell (Little Cypress-Mauriceville), second baseman Chelsea Malina (Shiner), third baseman Megan Hoog (Medina Valley), shortstop Sara Williamson (Weatherford), outfielders Stephanie Richmond (San Antonio O’Connor), Kristie Richmond (San Antonio O’Connor) and Summer Beesley (Weatherford) and designated hitter Courtney Myers (Pollock Central).

Osterman, who was an All-American pitcher at the University of Texas, recently completed her third season as the pitching coach at DePaul.

“I really enjoy working with the players,’’ Osterman said. “It has really opened my eyes to how much I actually understood the game. I can contribute more than just pitching.’’

Osterman is scheduled to play for the U.S. National team in the world championships this summer in Venezuela.

She also is pitching for the Thunder in the National Professional Fastpitch League. The team started in Houston, moved to Rockford, Ill. and now has relocated to Knoxville, Tenn.
The team used to be coached by Klein Oak head softball coach Jav Vela.

Osterman also plans to host her inaugural “Cat Osterman Experience” youth tournament in July in Bellevue, Neb.

After that?

“I have no idea what the future holds,’’ Osterman said.
