College Baseball: Andrew Benak, Rice University
Andrew Benak pitched four innings, striking out two and allowing four earned runs Thursday in Rice University's 4-3 loss to East Carolina. Benak graduated from Langham Creek High School.
Benak is a 2008 graduate of Langham Creek High School where he played for head coach Armando Sedano. During his senior season (2007-2008) Benak served as team captain and helped the Lobos to a 22-6 record and the bi-district title. He earned honorable mention All-District 17-5A honors at first base. As a junior (2006-2007), he helped Langham Creek to a 17-1 record and a top 15 national ranking. Benak played in the city and state versions of the American Baseball Coaches Association all-stars games. He is the son of Dan and Sandy Benak.
