College Softball: Meghan Fisher, East Texas Baptist

Meghan Fisher went 1 for 4 with one RBI in East Texas Baptist's 5-4 loss at UT-Tyler on Friday. Fisher is a 2007 graduate of Cy-Woods High School.

Fisher played at Cy-Fair for coach Debbie Furlow in 2003-2007, where she was named First-Team All-District and MVP. She was also named Offensive Player of the Year. Fisher was named All-State and Academic All-State as a senior in 2006-2007. In 2005-2006 she was named Defensive Player of the Year and Second-Team All-District. College Baseball: Corey Maines, Illinois State

Corey Maines pitched six innings, striking out nine and allowing no earned runs Friday in Illinois State's 8-2 win over Indiana State. Maines graduated from Langham Creek High School in 2007.

Maines is a 2007 graduate of Langham Creek High School. As a senior 2006-2007 he helped his team to a 34-4 record a spot in the regional semifinals a No. 2 ranking in the USA Today and a No. 11 ranking in Baseball America. He batted .429 with nine home runs 42 RBIs and 16 stolen bases while going 9-3 on the mound with a 1.01 ERA and 84 strikeouts in 74 innings of work. Maines was named third-team all-state and first-team all-Houston in addition to being selected MVP of the District 5A championship. As a junior 2005-2006 he hit .311 at the plate with five home runs and 32 RBIs in addition to going 7-1 on the hill with a 2.31 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 61 innings pitched. In the classroom Maines was a member of the honor roll and Langham Creek. The son of John and Twyla Maines he is a business administration major. Read more...
