The faces have changed, but the District 15-5A names remain the same as the Region II-5A playoffs open on Tuesday night.
Once again, Cy Falls, Cy Woods, Cy-Fair and Langham Creek will represent 15-5A in the Class 5A state playoffs.
District-champion Cy Falls, which enters the playoffs with a 16-0-3 record, will take on Cedar Park Vista Ridge, Cy Woods will take on Round Rock, Cy-Fair will take on Round Rock Westwood and Langham Creek will battle traditional power Georgetown.
I think our district will be very well represented in the playoffs,'' said Cy Falls head coach Kevin Napier. We have a very competitive league. That usually pays off come playoff time.''
Last year, Cy Falls finished fourth in district play, then advanced to the third round of the playoffs before losing to The Woodlands.
Cy Falls beat Georgetown and Klein in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
In the playoffs, it is a one-game season every night,'' Napier said. You can't afford to look ahead or look past anybody. One slip up and the season could be over.''
Langham Creek and Georgetown could be the best first-round matchup involving District 15-5A schools.
The Lobos have established quite a winning tradition under head coach Scott Tucker, while Georgetown has been one of the Region II-5A powers for quite some time.
Georgetown is always one of the teams to beat,'' Napier said. But all of the Round Rock schools also play very good soccer. I think the first-round games all will be very exciting.''
