Appel excelling in equestrian for Baylor

Former Cy Falls graduate Melanie Appel is making quite a name for herself in the sport of equestrian.
Appel, who graduated from Cy Falls in 2009, earned a partial equestrian and partial academic scholarship to Baylor.
She will be part of Baylor's team when the Bears host the Equestrian National Championships on April 15-17 at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
Heading into last week's Big 12 championships, Appel had competed in eight of Baylor's 14 matches and compiled a 4-4 record. She also earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in her first semester of college.
