April 16 deadline for Bragg Scholarship applications

From a press release:
On Saturday, May 1, The Salute to Law Enforcement, held annually at Willowbrook Mall, will announce the name of the student who will be awarded the 2010 Chief Alan Bragg Salute to Law Enforcement (STLE) scholarship. The Salute draws attention to the law enforcement professionals and the scholarship encourages and helps students pursue a career in criminal justice or law enforcement.
The Bragg Scholarship will be given to a student who graduates from high school in spring 2010 and who will enter college in the fall pursuing a program in law enforcement or criminal justice or to a college student who is pursuing a degree in criminal justice. Students who meet the qualifications should submit their application to The Salute Committee by Friday, April 16.
In addition to studying criminal justice in college, other considerations used in review of the candidates include financial need, current participation in criminal justice activities, student leadership and scholastic ability.
Sponsored by Sprint, The Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce, Spring ISD and Willowbrook Mall, the 16th annual Salute to Law Enforcement showcases approximately 100 law enforcement agencies with more than 300 officers participating. Additionally, more than 140 exhibits will showcase officers, equipment and departmental services.
The Salute will begin at 11:00 a.m. on May 1 with an opening ceremony where the Bragg Scholarship winner will be introduced. The event is held annually in the west parking lot of Willowbrook Mall, located at FM 1960 and Texas 249.
