Benefit to celebrate the life of "Lil Krysta"
There is nothing more tragic and heart-wrenching than the death of a child.
And, when it is at the hands of a driver under the influence, it inspires a great deal of anger.
On Feb. 11, the Rodriguez family suffered an unbearable tragedy when their 22-year-old daughter, Krysta, was killed when a drunk driver struck the car she was riding in on State Highway 6.
Friends and family are holding a benefit in Krysta's memory April 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bear Creek United Methodist Church, 16000 Rippling Water Drive. They are taking orders for fully cooked briskets in advance - $50 each and pre-orders will be taken through Wednesday, April 21 at krystasbenefit@gmail.com. When placing the order, please include your name, contact information and the number of briskets ordered. Only checks and cash are accepted.
At the benefit, barbecue plates with brisket, beans, potato salad and a drink will be sold for $8 each. There will also be a silent auction and raffle drawings. All proceeds will go to the Lil Krysta Memorial Fund," which has been set up to help the Rodriguez family with funeral costs and other expenses.
Mark Rodriguez is one of our Cy-Fair heroes he is Captain at the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department Station #8, the Tomball Volunteer Fire Department's training chief, and is the former skills instructor for the Lone Star College - Cy-Fair Fire Training Program.
