Stackers collect medals at 2010 Worlds

Sport-stacking students from Sampson and Matzke elementary schools represented CFISD at the World Sport Stacking Association World Championships in Denver, Colo., claiming five medals on April 10-11.
The Eighth Annual 2010 WSSA World Sport Stacking Championships drew 711 competitors representing 18 countries and 33 states.
For two days, Magness Arena on the University of Denver campus was the site of the world's premier sport-stacking event. The fastest stackers on the planet vied for record times in individual timed events and head-to-head relays.
Competing in the 8U Division, the Sampson Sharks consisting of students Danica Gubic, Alejandro Montoya, Blake Weldon and Colby Brennan won the gold medal in the Head to Head 3-6-3 Relay, beating out Team USA.
Competing in the 10U Division, the Stallion Stackers consisting of students Brian Janger, Chloe Ewing, Garrett Martin, Austin Gallagher and Alex Niall won the bronze medal in the Head to Head 3-6-3 Relay, beating out 29 other teams from around the world.
Sampson student Brian Janger won bronze medals in both the 3-6-3 Stack (3.84 seconds) and the Cycle (9.77 seconds), while Garrett Martin won the bronze medal in the Cycle (9.41 sec).
Year after year, the competition gets faster and faster," said Sampson teacher and stacking coach Charlotte French. Our kids work very hard to compete at this level and we were proud of their performances on the world's biggest stage."
