Fireworks erupt in car, cause wreck

A driver lost control of his car and hit a parked car in the driveway of a Cypress home on Friday night after fireworks went off in the car.
Rosehill Fire Department responded to the scene of the incident at 10 p.m. in the 18900 block of KZ Road in northwest Harris County.
"Witnesses at the scene reported that the fireworks went off inside a moving vehicle when a lit punk (a smoldering stick used for lighting fireworks fuses) was placed in a bag of unused fireworks in the back seat," according to a Harris County Fire Marshal's Office press release. "While the vehicle was traveling down the road, several of the unused fireworks ignited going off inside the vehicle."
A passenger in the car received minor injuries and was treated at the scene, the release stated.
Fire marshals are investigating.
