Cy-Fair High robotics team places third at state
From a press release:
A Cy-Fair High School computer science team placed third at the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) State Robotics Programming Contest, held May 15 in Seguin.
One of five Cy-Fair teams competing at the contest, the Coginators placed third after finishing in a three-way tie for first place after
three rounds of competition. The team members are students Adyson Alvis, Taha Tayyab, Jacob Perouteck and Oliver Noble.
The Coginators tallied a perfect score of 501 points in their first match, then followed it with 121 points in the second round and 500 points in the third round. The two highest scores were recorded, giving them the third-place tie with 1,001 points.
The tiebreaker was based on the third-round score for all three teams, putting the Coginators in third place.
"These students started with two weeks of preparation for the regional competition where the two teams qualified for the TCEA State Contest. Following that they spent all their free time to work the programs controlling the robots to get the fantastic results at the State Contest," said Cy-Fair computer science teacher Mike Gray. "This was a very successful first robotics contest year."
