SHRP holds its own Idol contest tonight

WHAT: You Think You Have What It Takes To be Houston 's Best Singer? Sam Houston Race Park (www.shrp.com) will host the Inaugural Sam Houston Race Park Idol singing contest, open to singers ages 6 to 18 years of age, beginning Friday, January 8, 2010. The contest will feature two divisions, Junior (ages 6 to 11) and a Senior (ages 12 to 18), performing before a panel of industry judges and a live audience in between racing events. Contestants will perform a two-minute song of their choice and be scored based on vocal performance, audience response and stage presence. One Junior and one Senior division winner will be selected. Qualifying rounds will take place January 8 & 15; Finals will take place January 22.
