Registration is open for the Hope For The Warriors 2nd Annual Houston Golf Classic slated for Monday, Sept. 13 at BlackHorse Golf Club in Cypress.

Local combat veteran, Capt. Daniel Moran, USMC (Ret), will be the guest speaker at the dinner and an awards ceremony.  Proceeds from the event will benefit Hope For The Warriors, a nonprofit organization that supports wounded U.S. service members, their families, and families of fallen soldiers.

“Hope for the Warriors is on the front-lines of the battle that many service members and their families face when they return home,” Moran said.

Moran was wounded during his second deployment to Iraq in October 2006 when vehicle was hit by an IED, killing three Marines.  He sustained 3rd degree burns to 50 percent of his body, endured multiple fractures in his back, and suffered an inhalation injury, a concussion and his spleen was removed.

After he was transferred to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Moran spent 2 ½ years in rehabilitation.  Moran was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with Valor, the Navy Achievement Medal with Valor, and the Purple Heart.

A tournament entry fee of $800 for a foursome or $200 per person includes green fees, a cart, meals, range balls and gift bags.

The tournament opens with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. and ends with the awards ceremony and dinner at 5:30 p.m.
