Horton leads U.S. into World Championships
Cy-Fair's Jonathan Horton will be leading the U.S. gymnastics team into the World Championships next month in the Netherlands.
As the National Champion two years running, Horton hopes to improve upon last years World Championship performance.
In 2009, the U.S. won 5 medals in the competition: Bridget Sloan, world all-around champion; Rebecca Bross, world all-around silver medalist and uneven bars bronze medalist; Kayla Williams, world vault gold medalist; and Ivana Hong, world balance beam bronze medalist. Horton hopes to bring medals for the men’s team this year.
Horton is a favorite for the 2012 U.S. Men’s Olympic team after his strong performance in the 2008 Beijing Olympic games, where he won an individual silver medal on the high bar and helped the U.S. Men’s team win a bronze medal overall.
