Off-duty police officer fires at suspected bank robbers
Houston police are looking for two suspects in an attempted bank robbery that occurred Tuesday afternoon at the Vista Bank Texas at 14561 Northwest Freeway.
Sergeants B. Williams and R. Rohling reported that Senior Police Officer P. Sandoval was working an approved extra job at the bank when two men allegedly entered wearing masks. Police say one of the men was armed with a pistol.
Officer Sandoval claims he believed the bank was about to be robbed. He then shot at the suspects several time, who fled in a white Ford Taurus.
A third suspect was taken into custody when he tripped and fell in the parking lot. A pistol was recovered from him at the scene.
Anyone with information on the identities of the two wanted suspects can call Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-TIPS.
