Elderly woman dies from infection, family sues nursing home
A Houston woman is suing a Cypress nursing home, claiming its neglect and substandard treatment led to her mother's death.
Adrian Thompson, who is suing on behalf of her mother deceased Erma Jean Moseley, claims the Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center
The suit, which was filed Sept. 23 in the Harris County District Court, claims Moseley was admitted to Legend Oaks in October 2008. During that time, she developed pressure ulcers on various parts of her body, the suit alleges.
The wounds allegedly worsened over the next month, eventually leading to Moseley's hospitalization. Thompson says the wounds were treated with some success, but ultimately the infections caused her death on January 17, 2009.
The suit claims Moseley's death was a result of Legend Oaks' substandard nursing care and neglect. The facility allegedly failed to adequately observe, assess, diagnose and treat Moseley, eventually causing her death, her daughter claims.
Thompson is being represented by Houston attorney Steven R. Davis. She is seeking compensatory damages.
