Melton scores TD for Georgia Tech
Tyler Melton, Houston native and Langham Creek HS grad, scored one touchdown for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in their 45-28 loss to North Carolina State on Saturday.
Melton has started slow this season, only catching two passes for 39 yards. He is averaging 9.8 yards per game and Saturday's score is his only touchdown for the season.
Melton is the son of Ed and Sharion Melton of Cypress.
As a Langham Creek wide reciever, Melton was named to the Area Top 100 by the Houston Chronicle in his senior season. He was a two-time all-district selection who had 46 receptions for 518 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior.
He earned the team MVP for coach Mac Woodfin that season. Melton owns career numbers of 121 receptions, more than 1,750 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns, as well as the school single-game receiving record with 10 receptions for 170 yards and three touchdowns.
Georgia Tech hopes to get another win this Saturday at Wake Forest. Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
