McGuffie leads Rice ground game in loss to SMU
Cy-Fair HS graduate (2008) Sam McGuffie led the Rice running attack in the Owl's 42-31 loss to SMU on Saturday.
McGuffie rushed for 99 yards on 20 carries and one touchdown. He had a 4.8-yard-per-carry average.
He is the son of Terrie and Victoria McGuffie of Cypress.
Rushing for Cy-Fair HS, McGuffie tallied 699 career carries for 5,847 yards and 83 touchdowns. He was a first team all-district selection as a senior, and was named to the Associated Press All-State 5A at running back in his junior year.
Rice travels to El Paso to battle UTEP on Saturday. Game time is 8:05 p.m.
