Woods vs. Lakes outdoors Thursday night at Pridgeon

The Cy-Woods Wildcats 2-3 overall host the Cypress Lakes Spartans 0-5 overall in a district matchup Thursday night.

Cy-Woods defeated Jersey Village 35-14 last week. They are led by quarterback Gabriel West who has 6 touchdowns and 612 combined yards. Wildcats running back Fredrick Anderson who has 5 touchdowns and 532 rushing yards while special teams ace kickoff return man Cole Devillers is averaging 19.8 yards per return for 238 return yards. Devillers has also been worked into the receiving mix occasionally including a week one catch that went 71-yards for the score against A & M Consolidated.

The Spartans are looking for their first victory of the season and lost 30-6 against Langham Creek last week. They have been outscored 169-62 and must find a way to get quarterback Johnathan Bowen into a rhythm early if the Spartans look to be competitive. Bowen has thrown for 732 yards but hasn't reached the end zone since week one against Klein Collins and he has thrown five interceptions along the way.

Equally important for the Spartans chance at playing upsetter is which one of Bowen's three favorite targets will establish themselves as his go to receiver. Jordan Davis has 151 receiving yards, Dyron Johnson has 123 receiving yards, and Zac Garth has 105 receiving yards.

Running back Jarvis Leverett will also have to keep up his solid play. He is averaging 116.3 rushing yards a game and has 5 touchdowns.
