Woman wants to be compensated for Ike damage

A Cy-Fair woman is suing her insurance company, claiming it falsely told her that damage caused by Hurricane Ike wasn't covered under her policy.

Olga Rocha Contreras filed a lawsuit on Oct. 1 in the Harris County District Court against Texas Farmers Insurance Co., claiming breach of contract and fraud.

Contreras alleges that in the early hours of Sept. 13, Hurricane Ike struck her home, causing severe damage to his property.

The suit claims the roof of her home suffered extensive damage, water intruded through his entire home causing problems to her walls, floors and ceilings, the gutters were damaged and much of her personal property was ruined.

Upon filing a claim for her losses with the defendant, she was told that the damage wasnt covered under her policy, which she claims is untrue.

The plaintiff is seeking damages including actual damages, punitive damages other damages she is entitled to by the court and requests a jury trial.

Contreras is being represented in the case by Houston attorney J. Steve Mostyn.
