Volleyball preview: Cy-Woods v. Jersey Village
Mighty Cy-Woods travels to Jersey Village in District 17-5A volleyball action Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
Cy-Woods is 35-1 on the year and an undefeated in district play, 13-0. Their only loss of the year was to the Grapevine Mustangs on August 27.
The Mustangs won that match in the Pearland tournament in two closely contested games, 25-22 and 25-22.
Cy-Woods won their most recent match last Friday in three games against Cy-Ranch 25-15, 25-18, and 25-12.
Daniela Arenas led Cy-Woods with 11 kills.
Arenas, a 59 senior, is no stranger to leading Cy-Woods to victory. She leads the team with 229 kills. The squad has 301 kills on the year. She has a 4.98 kills per game average
Sarah Nielsen, a 6' junior, adds to Cy-Woods' punch with 67 kills and a 4.47 kills per game average.
Jersey Village is (14-15) on the season and (8-4) in District play.
The Falcons won their last match against Langham Creek in four games, 25-16, 20-25, 26-25 and25-17.
Amy Davault, a 510 senior, had 21 kills in leading her team to victory.
Davault is having a terrific season. She has 320 of the squads 339 kills. Her kills per game average is a lofty 5.16.
Caitlyn Cooney, a 58 junior, is another talented Falcon. She has 19 kills on the year and a 3.17 kills per game average.
After Wednesday's match, Cy-Woods will host Cy-Springs on Friday.
Jersey Village will travel to Cy-Ridge on the same day.
