Cy Springs defeats Cy Ranch in district donnybrook Thursday night
Afton Williams combines for two scores and 163 yards while Dante Madison scores on a 99-yard touchdown run as Cy Springs defeats Cy Ranch 21-14 for their first victory of the year Thursday night at The Berry Center.
The loss was the Mustangs third consecutive.
Cy Springs improves to 1-6 while Cy Ranch moves to 4-3 on the season.
Panthers quarterback Afton Williams connected with Emmanuel Roland for a 74-yard first quarter touchdown pass. Kicker Thristian Dawson tacked on the extra point giving Cy Springs a 7-0 lead.
Roland finished with 53 receiving yards.
Cy Springs Dante Madison then went all the way scoring on a 99-yard touchdown run with five seconds remaining in the first quarter. Dawson nailed the extra point giving the Panthers a 14-0 half-time lead after both teams failed to score in the second quarter.
Cy Ranch got on the board four minutes into the third quarter on a 74-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Justin Monsour to Cody Jones making the score 14-6 after a failed extra point attempt.
Monsour finished with two touchdown passes and 173 passing yards while throwing one interception.
Cy Springs Williams broke free three minutes into the fourth quarter for a 31-yard touchdown sprint making the score 21-6 after the Dawson extra point.
The Mustangs responded just a minute later when Monsour connected for his second touchdown pass with DeAndre Liggins. Keith Ford was successful on the two-point conversion making the score 21-14.
Ford had a nice game averaging more than five-yards per carry while rushing for 137 yards but failing to score.
The Panthers defense held the rest of the way giving Cy Springs their first win.
Cy Springs hosts Jersey Village October 21 while Cy Ranch faces Cy Falls October 21.
