Cy-Fair grad leads Rice in rushing
Cypress Fairbanks 2008 grad Sam McGuffie lead the Rice Owls in rushing in its 34-31 victory over Houston on Saturday.
McGuffie rushed for 71 yards on 19 carries. He also added one catch for 24 yards. He is the leading rusher for the season, tacking up 433 yards on 105 carries.
The red shirt sophomore is the son of Terrie and Victoria McGuffie.
McGuffie tallied 699 career carries for 5,847 yards with 83 touchdowns at Cy-Fair HS. He was named to the 2007 All-USA second team by <i>USA Today</i>, and put on the EA Sports All-America third team. McGuffie was recognized by Rivals.com as the No. 10 all-purpose back and the 38th best prospect in Texas.
Rice will travel to Orlando to face UCF on Saturday, Oct. 23. Game time is at 2:30 p.m. CST.
