Volleyball Preview: Cy Lakes hosts Cy Woods Friday
The Cy Lakes Spartans (10-20) host the Cy Woods Wildcats (37-1) Friday night at 6:00 pm.
Cy Lakes is in ninth place in the ten-team 5A District 17 standings with a 2-13 district record while Cy Woods is in firts place with a 15-0 district record.
Cy Woods defeated Cy Lakes three games to none on September 21.
The Cy Lakes Spartans are led by junior Hanna Bobst a 2009 5A All-District second team selection.
Bobst is complimented by pair of classmates.
6'0" junior Davina Fatuni has 97 kills this season and is averaging 2.94 kills per game while 5'7" junior Christi Johnson has compiled 55 kills for the Spartans.
Cy Woods lost their only game of the season, at Grapevine, on August 27. The Wildcats are ranked #6 in the state by The MaxPreps Freeman Rankings.
Cy Woods is led by Rice University recruit Daniela Arenas. The 5'9" senior was a 2009 5A District 17 first team selection.
Arenas has 258 kills this season and is averaging 4.87 kills per game.
Fellow 2009 5A District 17 first team selection, 6'0" junior, Sarah Nielsen has compiled 78 kills.
A pair of talented sophomores have also contributed to Cy Woods success.
Daniela Arenas sister, Victoria Arenas, has 632 digs for the Wildcats and is making a bid to join her sister on the all-district team.
5'7" sophomore Chloe Collins was 2009 5A District 17 Newcomer of the Year.
