Local gridirons dotted with talent

A total of 13 players were named to the Elite or the First-Team Academic All-State team by the Texas High School Coaches Association.
The players named to the Elite" team were Cy woods' Andrew Hall and Jersey Village's Steven Fly and Garrett Granier.
The first-team academic all-state choices were Cy-Fair's Ryan Efaw, Matthew Vermilyea and Ben Zavala; Cy Falls' Warren Rooney; Cy Ridge's Seth Spaulding; Cy Woods' Darion Giron, Cyrus Iqbal, Travis Strahan and Derek Whitmire; and Jersey Village's Zachary Moran.
