Man charged with capital murder

The Houston Police Department reported that charges have been filed against a Cypress man, who was arrested in connection to a fatal stabbing of a man at the 3500 block of Elysian Street about 3:15 p.m. on Oct. 20.

The suspect, 45-year-old Tom Washington Jr., was charged with capital murder of 58-year-old Sahib Ali Khan of Cypress. Khan suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N. Ruland, Senior Police Officers J. Johnston, B. Nabors and Officer J. Harvey reported that Khan was inside his convenience store alone when an unknown male suspect entered the store, which was closed for remodeling.  At some point, Khan was stabbed. The suspect then took property and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Further investigation identified Washington as the suspect in this case.
