July Fourth firework displays around the area
Cy-Fair-area residents will find plenty of opportunities this year to celebrate the Fourth of July.
Sam Houston Race Park
Sam Houston Race Park's July 4th Weekend Extravaganza will feature live racing beginning at 5 p.m., followed by a post-race Fireworks Extravaganza. The evening also will feature a performance by Team Ghost Riders.
Free parking is available until 6 p.m. and will cost $10 per car after 6 p.m. General admission is $6 for adults and $4 for senior citizens until 6 p.m. After that time, prices will be $10 for adults and senior citizens. Towne Lake
This year's Fourth of July at Towne Lake will take place 7:30-9 p.m. July 4 on the shores of Towne Lake.
The celebration will feature food, drinks, music and a fireworks display. A Family Fun zone will include inflatables, a rock wall, a train and face painting. Details: www.townelaketexas.com.
Tomball
The City of Tomball's Fire Department will present a free community celebration 1-5 p.m. Sunday, July 4, at the Target shopping center on FM 2920, west of Texas 249. Entertainment will include water games, Frisbees, kites, children's horseshoe games and more.
That night, around 9:15 p.m., the fire department will present a fireworks show. Community members should be able to see the fireworks from Tomball College, the H-E-B parking lot, the Target lot and other open city spots. Details: 281-351-7101.
Magnolia
The annual Spirit of Magnolia Fourth of July celebration will feature free activities in Unity Park, including a concert by the Charlie Lucas Band at 6:30 p.m.
A Fourth of July parade will begin at 1 p.m., beginning at Magnolia Elementary School. The fireworks display will begin at 9:15 p.m. Unity Park is located off Nichols Sawmill Road. Details: www.cityofmagnolia.com.
