Volleyball preview: Cy-Woods to battle MacArthur in playoffs
Houston Cypress Woods battles Houston MacArthur in the 5A Bi-District playoffs Monday at 6 p.m.
Cypress Woods finished the regular season 40-2 overall and 18-0 in district play.
Daniela Arenas, a 5-foot, 9-inch senior, leads Cy-Woods with 271 kills and a 4.93 kill per game average. Sarah Nielsen, a 6-foot senior, has 111 kills on the season for a 4.27 kill per game average.
Carla Armstrong, a 5-foot, 1-inch senior, is another key player for Cypress Woods. She has a 3.63 kill per game average.
As a team, Cy-Woods has 416 kills on the season for a 4.57 kill per game average. Its only two losses on the year came to Grapevine and Klein Oak.
Houston MacArthur finished the regular season 11-19 overall and 7-5 in district play.
The Generals are led by Rebecca Moustafa. The 6-foot, 2-inch senior has 224 kills for a 2.38 kill per game average.
Yamilex Jaramillo, a 5-foot, 1-inch sophomore, leads MacArthur with 55 assists and a 0.69 assist per game average. Yessica Marcenco leads the team with 268 digs and a 3.35 dig per game average.
As a team, Houston MacArthur has 534 kills, 58 assists and 868 digs on the year.
Monday's playoff match is at the Campbell Center.
