Seven Lakes grad completes basic training

Army National Guard Pvt. Jose M. Zerpa graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina.

Zerpa, a 2010 graduate of Seven Lakes High School in Katy, completed nine weeks of training, where he studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare, bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
 
Zerpa is the son of Noiva Santos and stepson of Peter Santos of Cypress Bluff Drive.
