HFAC schedules musical auditions

The Houston Family Arts Center (HFAC) will be holding auditions for "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" on Monday, Nov. 15 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 10760 Grant Road.

The musical, to be directed by Cary Thornton, is based on the best-selling books by Robert Fulghum. The roles that are available are: Fred, late 50s to late 60s; Ed, late 40s to early 50s; Branislav, mid-30s to early 40s; Jill, mid-30s to early 40s; Kathleen, late 50s to early 60s; and a Narrator/Pianist, male or female 20-plus. No roles have been pre-cast. If needed, callbacks will be on Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Actors can make an appointment by emailing auditions@houstonfac.com for an audition time slot and should include the desired role and phone number in the request. Auditions will be performed in front of an audition panel including the director, assistant director, music director and producer.

Auditions will consist of a song and a memorized dramatic monologue. Actors should bring a resume and headshot or photo and a prepared short vocal selection with a CD or printed piano accompaniment. An accompaniment CD without vocal is preferred. A pianist will be available at auditions. No a cappella is requested.

Performances will be in HFACs new Garza Mainstage, an intimate 150-seat theatre.
