Volleyball: Cy-Woods defeats MacArthur
Houston Cypress Woods defeated Houston MacArthur in the 5A bi-district playoffs on Monday.
Cypress Woods won the match in three games, 25-11, 25-8, and 25-13.
Sarah Nielsen, a 6-foot junior, led Cy-Woods with 12 kills in the match.
Cypress Woods finished the regular season 40-2 overall and 18-0 in district play.
Daniela Arenas, a 5-foot, 9-inch senior, leads Cy-Woods with 271 kills and a 4.93 kill per game average. Sarah Nielsen, a 6-foot senior, has 123 kills on the season for a 4.93 kill per game average.
Carla Armstrong, a 5-foot, 11-inch senior, is another key player for Cypress Woods. She has a 3.63 kill per game average.
As a team, Cy-Woods has 428 kills on the season for a 4.55 kill per game average. Its only two losses on the year came to Grapevine and Klein Oak.
Houston MacArthur finished the regular season 11-19 overall and 7-5 in district play.
The Generals were led by Rebecca Moustafa. The 6-foot, 2-inch senior had three kills in the match.
As a team, Houston MacArthur had 543 kills, 58 assists, and 868 digs on the year.
