Cy-Fair grad McGuffie has standout performance for Rice
Cy-Fair HS 2008 grad Sam McGuffie had a standout performance for the Rice Owls in their tough loss to Tulsa on Saturday.
McGuffie ran for 178 yards on 28 carries, scoring one touchdown in the contest.
On the season, McGuffie has 642 rushing yards on 149 carries, averaging a respectable 4.3 yards per touch. His touchdown on Saturday gives him three touchdowns for the year.
The red-shirt sophomore is the son of Terrie and Victoria McGuffie.
McGuffie tallied 699 career carries for 5,847 yards with 83 touchdowns at Cy-Fair HS. He was placed on the 2007 All-USA second team by USA Today and to the EA Sports All-American third team. McGuffie was recognized by Rivals.com as the No. 10 all-purpose back and the 38th best prospect in Texas.
Rice will travel to New Orleans to face Tulane in conference play on Saturday, Nov. 13. Kick off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CST.
