Harris County seeks a variety of volunteers
Harris County suggests that people make a difference by volunteering for help organizations.
People can help by volunteering for a toy drive located in northwest Houston in a Secret Santa warehouse. There, volunteers will sort and package items to be distributed to children from low-income families. Volunteers should be at least 16 years-old. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
Volunteers are also needed to visit residents of nursing homes on Nov. 25, Thanksgiving morning. They will be meeting near Huffmeister Road and Highway 290.
A health care agency also needs people with good communication skills to help care for the elderly and mediate any problems that arise.
Other organizations are offering volunteering opportunities such as preparing tax forms for low- and middle-income people, coaching basketball and helping at a pre-school.
For more information, call Volunteer Houston at 713-965-0031 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional opportunities can be found at www.volunteerhouston.org.
