HS football preview: Houston Cypress Creek v. Alief Hastings

The Houston Cypress Creek Cougars (7-3) will face the Alief Hastings Fighting Bears (6-4) in Friday night football action at Crump Stadium.

The Cougars average 5 yards per rush and 12 yards per catch for 4,225 yards in offense.  This No. 2, 17-5A, district ranked team is on a five-game winning streak on the road.

Senior quarterback Chuckie Keeton leads the team in passing with 1,859 yards on 148 of 239 completions with 11 touchdowns.

Junior halfback Devan Demas leads the team in rushing with 1,271 yards on 237 carries with 15 touchdowns.

Senior wide receiver David Lizarraga leads the Cougars receiving with 411 yards on 42 catches with three touchdowns.

Junior Jalen Partman has four interceptions on the season to lead the defense.

The Fighting Bears average 3 yards on the ground and 14 yards per catch for a season total of 2,791 yards of offense.  The team is ranked No. 3 in the 18-5A district with a home record of 4-1.

Senior Ricardo Wilson leads the team in passing with 1,223 yards on 99 of 149 completions with 15 touchdowns.

Leading the Fighting Bears rushing game is sophomore Jaquaries Johnson with 728 yards on 157 carries with five touchdowns.

Terrence Marshall leads the team in receiving with 732 yards on 34 catches with seven touchdowns.

This is the first time these two teams have played each other since the 2008 season.
