Rig crashes into dozens of parked cars; no injures reported
The driver of an 18-wheeler lost control of the rig Thursday afternoon and struck more than two dozen vehicles parked outside a northwest Harris County businesses, authorities said.
The driver was westbound on FM 529, west of U.S. 290, when he swerved across the center turn lane at about 1:30 p.m. and entered into oncoming traffic, officials said. The rig crossed three eastbound lanes, struck a fence, then entered the parking lot at Oceaneering International Inc. in the 11900 block of FM 529.
The tractor trailer, which was carrying asphalt, struck 25 vehicles parked in the company's parking lot.
The driver was not injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators are trying to determine how the driver lost control, said Christina Garza, spokeswoman with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. The driver could face a traffic citation, she said.
