HS basketball: Providence defeats Houston Cypress Christian
Providence High School edged out Houston Cypress Christian by two points, winning 62-60 in basketball action on Thursday.
Allen Sonyer scored 27 points in the contest, helping Providence win their opening game of the season.
Houston Cypress Christian's 6-foot, 4-inch junior guard Evan Doremus scored 20 points on 4-11 shooting.
Travis Takacs, a 5-foot, 6-inch senior guard, secured 17 points in the contest. He was 4-5 shooting from the floor, and 6-8 from the free-throw line.
Providence starts their season 1-0. Houston Cypress Christian falls to 1-1 heading into back-to-back home games next week.
