Cy-Fair grad has solid day for the Rice Owls
Sam McGuffie, a 2008 Cy-Fair HS grad, rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown in the Rice Owls' 54-49 loss to Tulane on Saturday.
In addition to his 71 yards on the ground, McGuffie caught two passes for 12 yards. He leads the Owls with 713 yards on 146 carries this season.
The red shirt sophomore is the son of Terrie and Victoria McGuffie.
McGuffie tallied 699 career carries for 5,847 yards with 83 touchdowns at Cy-Fair HS. He was place on the 2007 All-USA second team by USA Today, and the EA Sports All-America third team. McGuffie was recognized by Rivals.com as the No. 10 all-purpose back and the 38th best prospect in Texas.
Rice will host East Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Rice Stadium. Game time is slated for 12 p.m. CST and can be seen on CBS.
