Workforce program review forum to be held

Industry partners, students, faculty and staff are being asked to weigh in at a community forum about the future of the medical and nursing workforce in Cy-Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 17.

This forum is part of the Lone Star College System's response increasing accountability of their workforce programs. They're looking to make sure that programs are meeting community needs, and preparing our students with the right tools and skills to enter a changing workforce.

The programs undergo program review for quality assurance every three years according to the published/established schedule, in accordance with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board guidelines. Program review is the process for evaluating a program to improve, enhance, and/or determine the viability of the program.

The purpose of the forum is to facilitate college ownership of these programs; to showcase work that is done by the workforce programs; to gain input and feedback from stakeholders on the future of these programs; and to connect the needs of these programs to the budgeting process.

Dean Ted Lewis will facilitate the forum in which program leaders will prepare a 20-minute presentation on the summative data in recent program reviews and focus on any corrective actions, activities and future plans.

This Workforce Program Review Forum will be held from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Conference Center, room 153, at 9191 Barker Cypress.
