HS girls basketball preview: Cypress Creek v. Austin
Cypress Creek hosts Austin in District 23-5A girls basketball action on Tuesday.
Austin is already 4-1 on the year; winning their last game 50-39 over Jersey Village.
Nicole Blaskowsky, a 5-foot, 8-inch junior guard, leads Austin in scoring at 17.3 points per game. Kristen Howard, a 5-foot, 10-inch senior center, averages 15 points per game, while Pearl Ubaru, a 5-foot, 9-inch junior forward, chips in 14 points a game.
Next up for Austin is a Thursday visit from Katy.
Cypress Creek is off to a good start as well, at 3-1 on the season. Last time out, they dropped their first game of the year 47-39 to The Woodlands.
Maddy McGlamery, a 5-foot, 8-inch senior forward, leads her team in scoring at 17.7 points per game. Angelica Weaver, a 5-foot, 9-inch senior forward, chips in 13 points a game, and Ikpeaku Iwobi adds 12.
Next up for Cypress Creek is a Monday visit from Concordia Lutheran.
Tuesday's tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
