Jersey Village firefighters get propane safety training
The Jersey Village Fire Department got free propane training classes from the Green's Blue Flame Gas Co. and the Railroad Commission of Texas' Alternative Fuels Division on Wednesday, Nov. 16.
Green's Blue Flame Gas Co. worked with the Railroad Commission, which is in charge of propane safety in Texas, to custom-design a three-hour class to meet local needs. The class included propane safety topics ranging from barbecue cylinders to residential tanks and commercial bulk installations. Participating firefighters received hands-on experience with propane equipment as well as classroom instruction.
The Commission's propane safety training for local fire departments is designed to increase firefighters' knowledge of propane and help them respond effectively in any situation. Kent Watts, the Commission's propane fire trainer and past president of the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas, taught the class.
For more information on how to use propane safely, contact the Railroad Commission's Alternative Fuels Division at 800-64-CLEAR (25327) or visit www.rrc.state.tx.us and click on "Propane/LP-Gas."
