HS football preview: Cypress Woods v. Taylor

The Cy-Woods Wildcats (8-3) face the Taylor Mustangs (6-5) Saturday in 5A Division II playoff football.

Taylor won its second-consecutive game, defeating Chavez 38-31 last week.

Mustangs quarterback Hunter Riggs has combined for 17 touchdowns, compiled 1,806 passing yards and thrown 10 interceptions this season.

Taylor running back Bright Ashaka scored the winning touchdown against Chavez last week with just over three minutes remaining in the game and leads the Mustangs with 1,005 rushing yards.

He has combined for 13 touchdowns and is averaging more than 5 yards per carry.

Shey Akingbade is Riggs' top target and has 10 touchdown receptions while averaging 18 yards per reception.

Cy-Woods won its seventh-consecutive game, defeating Eisenhower 45-35 last week.

The Wildcats are averaging 231.5 passing yards per game and 216.7 rushing yards per game in a well-balanced offensive attack.

Cy-Woods signal caller Colton Huntsman is a prolific passer and has rushed for 10 scores this season.

Huntsman has passed for 20 touchdowns and compiled 1,993 passing yards while only throwing three interceptions this season.

Wildcats running back Frederick Anderson is a dual threat out of the backfield, leading Cy-Woods in both rushing and receiving yards.

He has 12 rushing touchdowns and 10 touchdown receptions this season while combining for 1,583 yards of offense this season.

Kick off is set for 6 p.m. at Tully Stadium.
