HS football playoffs: Cy Creek runs over Cinco Ranch
Junior running back Devan Demas ran 38 times for 272 yards and quarterback Chuckie Keeton added 168 rushing yards of his own as Cy Creek rolled over Cinco Ranch, 45-28 in 5A, Region III Saturday playoff action at Tully Stadium.
Cy Creek (9-3) amassed 590 yards of offense, jumping to a 26-point second quarter lead in a game that was largely over by halftime.
After running back Jamel James ripped off a 78-yard run to give Cinco Ranch a fleeting 7-0 lead less than a minute into the game, Demas and Keeton went to work.
Demas scored on Cy Creek's next possession, a three yard run, then Keeton scored later in the quarter from two yards you to make it 13-7 after one quarter.
Keeton connected with Tyler Hudson (four catches, 76 yards) for an 18-yard score on the Cougars' first drive of the second quarter. Demas had scoring runs-- of 13 yards and 75 yards-- on their second and third. At that point, it was 33-7.
For Cinco Ranch, backup senior quarterback Kevin Hassold completed six of eleven passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns, a 39-yarder to Bobby Waid and one for 89 yards to Alex Ludowig (four catches, 114 yards).
James, a sophomore, finished with nine rushes for 96 yards for Cinco Ranch. He ran for 1,179 yards and 16 touchdowns this season.
K.C. Nlemchi finished with ten carries for 52 yards. He ran for 1,246 and 19 scores on the year.
Cy Creek advances to play Pearland (12-0) in the next round
