Thanksgiving day volunteers wanted at Cypress nursing home
Grace Care Center of Cypress is looking for Thanksgiving Day volunteers to visit nursing homes in northwest Houston.
It's part of the 15th annual Volunteer Houston Holiday Project, which organizes visits to shut-ins at local institutions. The first-ever visits were during Christmas, 1996.
Interested volunteers are asked to be at Grace Care Center, 9602 Huffmeister Road, Houston, at 9:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. Volunteers will be broken up into teams of ten; each team will visit a single nursing home in the area.
Call Donna Martin at Volunteer Houston, 281-463-9001, for more information.
Founded in 1974, Volunteer Houston is a non-profit that promotes volunteerism across Houston metro. It has offices at 3015 Richmond Ave. in Houston's Greenway/Upper Kirby community as well as in Clear Lake City and Sugar Land.
