HS football playoffs: Cy Woods overwhelms Clear Creek
The Cy Woods Wildcats (10-3) defeated the Clear Creek Wildcats (9-4) 52-34 during a 5A Regional football semifinal Saturday at Turner Stadium.
Cy Woods 35-14 halftime lead was enough to preserve the victory despite being outscored 20-17 during the second half.
Cy Woods senior Cole Devillers returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown and finished with 61 receiving yards. Running back Frederick Anderson had four rushing touchdowns and averaged more than eight yards per carry while compiling 145 rushing yards.
Cy Woods senior quarterback Colton Huntsman had two rushing touchdowns, combined for 371 yards, and threw one interception.
Clear Creek senior quarterback Chris Collins threw two touchdown passes to Tevin Jones who also finished with 80 receiving yards.
Collins also had 302 passing yards and threw an interception.
Running back C.J. McElroy had two rushing touchdowns and led Clear Creek with 91 rushing yards and 119 receiving yards. Dion Lewis also had a rushing touchdown for Clear Creek during the season-ending loss.
