Cypress wine store to host Toys for Tots events

A Cypress wine store will hold a fundraiser for the Toys for Tots foundation.

WineStyles invites local cooks and consumers to compete in this Saturday's annual Gumbo Cook-Off to benefit the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

Individuals and businesses are invited to present their homemade gumbo and decorated booths to be judged by a group of Marines. Money raised from the event will benefit the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a 63-year-old non-profit organization that provides funds for the annual Toys for Tots Program, which provides toys to economically disadvantaged children.  

According to the press release, John Henry, owner of Cypress WineStyles, explains his involvement in the fund drive. "During the holidays it's especially important to give back to the local community, and we hope to make a few more children smile this Christmas," he said.

The cost to enter the competition is $75. The cost to attend is $20 per person. Admission includes one glass of wine, beer or a soft drink, and a sample of each contestant's gumbo.
