Cy-Fair company sued over worker's death in Brazil

A Cy-Fair company is being sued by the estate of a Scottish employee who was killed in an automobile accident while working in Brazil.

Lynsey Melvin filed a lawsuit, on behalf of the estate of Michael McPake, on Dec. 2 in the Harris County District Court against Oceaneering International and Marine Production System Do Brazil LTDA, alleging negligence.

The plaintiff says that on Dec. 5, 2009, McPake was killed in a car accident while working within the scope of his employment in Brazil as a pipeline ultrasound inspector for Oceaneering International.

The plaintiff is seeking compensatory damages, as well as court costs.

The estate is being represented by Houston attorney Robert Chaffin.
