Kolache Factory stores open in Cypress, FM 2920

Two new Kolache Factory franchises have opened their doors in the north and northwest areas.
The sites are operating at 5941 FM 2920 in Spring and at 25823 U.S. 290 in Cypress.
I live very close, about 1 miles away, and I didn't see any good breakfast foods in this area," Cypress franchise owner Huu Banh said. I thought a Kolache Factory would do well."
Kolache Factory, which was founded in Houston in 1982, is a privately owned company that ships its products nationwide.
The locations including 19 company-owned and 13 franchises in Houston prepare pastries on-site. In addition to meat, cheese and fruit kolaches, the locations carry coffees, cinnamon rolls, croissants and other baked goods.
The Spring community has been very receptive to the location on FM 2920 near Kuykendahl, franchise manager Barbara Angelle said.
It is fabulous," Angelle said. The people here are so nice; they're excited we're here."
The franchise owner, Cypress Bakeries, LLC, also has a location at Louetta Road and Texas 249, across the street from H-E-B.
This (new) location is so perfect," Angelle said. There's so much traffic."
There are doughnut shops in the area, Angelle said, but a number of customers are drawn to kolaches' savory meat and cheese fillings.
The troubled economy does not seem to be a problem, she said. We see a lot of people sitting in our dining room, eating with their family."
Banh, who also is a full-time information technology professional, got his first taste of Kolache Factory more than six years ago, when a colleague brought some kolaches to the office. Banh was impressed.
I visited a few stores, and they were so clean," he said. The food wasn't fried and it was freshly made."
Banh opened a Copperfield location for his wife, Thy, to operate. When it saw growth, he opened a second franchise at Kuykendahl and FM 1960. The Cypress store on U.S. 290 near Spring Cypress Road is his third franchise.
He said he's confident all of his locations will do well this year, despite the economy. I really think the economy will turn around," he said.
Most Kolache Factory locations are open 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 7 p.m.-2 p.m. Sundays.
