Langham Creek grad hits double figures in Lehigh defeat

Langham Creek High School graduate Mackey McKnight scored 10 points, including eight in the game’s first 8:17, but Lehigh lost to USC 76-49 on Thursday in Los Angeles.

McKnight, a freshman guard, was the story early on for the Mountain Hawks as he scored eight first-half points, all in the early going. His three-pointer with 17:41 to go evened the score at five, but USC staged a 9-0 run over the next 3:42 before McKnight hit two free throws with 13:59 to go to pull Lehigh within 14-7.

McKnight is fourth on the team in scoring at eight points per game.

McKnight, a standout at Langham Creek, capped off the 2009-10 season in which he garnered All-Region and All-State laurels. He finished as his high school’s All-Time Leading Scorer (1,464 points) while finishing atop in assists as well.

He was ranked among the top 100 players in the State of Texas on Rivals.com. McKnight served as team captain as a senior, was named District MVP, and participated in TABC and THSCA All-Star Games.

McKnight was named to the Houston Chronicle's First Team All-Greater Houston. He led the Houston Area 5A in scoring with 24.0 points per game and earned a number of accolades a year prior as well, including First Team All-District and TABC All-Region.
