Man sues over injury at Cy-Fair Holiday Inn

A man is suing his employer over an injury he sustained at a Holiday Inn.

Gabriel De La Cruz Campos filed the lawsuit in Harris County District Court on Dec. 27 against Quemada Farms Inc., doing business as Ara Associates Inc., Clinton Investment Inc. and Holiday Inn and Suites, alleging that the defendants were negligent in providing a safe workplace free of environmental hazards which led to the plaintiff’s injury.

On or about July 1, 2010, Campos was working under the employ of the corporations at the Holiday Inn when he stepped onto a wooden box which had been rigged and placed on the forks of a Skytrak forklift belonging to the corporations. The Plaintiff was instructed to climb onto the box to remove materials for the job, but it gave way and fell to the ground with Campos, causing him to sustain injuries to his right shoulder, left leg and left knee which have required several surgeries and will require more surgeries in the future. The box had been improperly constructed, secured and modified by the defendants. The plaintiff suffered severe bodily injuries as a result of the negligence of the defendants.

Campos is seeking damages including physical pain and impairment, mental anguish, loss of earnings, medical expenses and physical disfigurement.

The plaintiff is represented by Houston attorney Joseph R. Corteguera of the Law Office of Domingo Garcia LLP.
