HP employee earns patent for new fan unit design
The Houston office of international technology company Hewlett-Packard
received a patent last week for a new fan design that does a better
job of cooling itself.
In the patent, HP claims that the new fan unit design does a better
job of cooling the fan's internal environment as well as whatever
environment it is mean to cool. The invention could lead to improved
designs of fans in machines such as computers.
The official patent number for the new fan design is 7,855,882. In
addition to the company, the document lists Houston resident John P.
Franz as the new fan unit's inventor.
While its international headquarters are in Palo Alto, California, HP's
Houston office serves as the nerve center of its U.S. division. HP's
offices are located in the Cy-Fair area at 20555 SH 249.
